Well.  I feel completely overwhelmed!  Like I'm taking a major crash course in all things photography.  But I'm learning.  There's so much to absorb that by the end of a day after watching tutorials and reading article after article of photography related things I feel like I need a nap.  The good news is I am learning and getting somewhere.  At least I sure hope so!
I have in fact determined, that as far as editing goes I loathe Photoshop.  I know everyone has their own personal preference when it comes to editing pictuers and perhaps one day I'll change my mind but I love how Adobe Lightroom is so clear cut and user friendly and can now do so much of what makes Photoshop really popular for photo editing,  So for me, I'm sticking with Lightroom, because anything that makes it easier to understand and does what it's supposed to is ok in my book.
I am in the midst of trying to be better at shooting in manual mode.  *Big Sigh* Practice makes perfect.  For a couple hours this morning all three kids were in this magical zone of getting along and playing happily together so I sat in a corner and told them to ignore me, that I was just working on camera settings.  I think it worked.  They almost forgot I was there.  ;-) So here is today's playing around practice photos...I have a looong ways to go folks.

I am excited because I've found a number of places online that also offer photography tips and courses but that also do Lightroom Presets...which is essentially like actions in Photoshop or Filters in Instagram and so on.  This is good news because once I can get better at my camera settings and light and meters etc. these will help give my pictures a cohesive look.  I downloaded some free ones from Pretty Presets but I am really biding my time til I can snag some from Greater Than Gatsby's site.  I love how clean and beautiful they are. I just need to keep practicing and not let myself get too overwhelmed because that could be easy to do!

I cannot believe this girl is almost 5! 5!? How did that happen!? :(

Funnyisms

I am spending less and less time on Facebook for various reasons but I've always used it as a way to quickly keep track of the random things that come out of the kids mouths. Trying to be better about putting it here instead.
For instance yesterday both girls requested that daddy do their hair for church. Adam's been working on perfecting the tight and smooth ponytail so he welcomed the challenge. (To see the video on how I suggested he go about it click here: http://youtu.be/3ihVOeK2TZY )
So he gets done doing pretty awesome ponytails and Hannah sighs and says: "Dad, is this going to go to your head?"

Later that night the girls and I were all snuggled down preparing for bed and Abby asked randomly what it means to be a maid of honor. So I start explaining using the example that if Hannah were to get married Abby might be her maid of honor and what that would mean. Suddenly Hannah says: "Ok. But why are we even talking about this? I'm only seven!"
