I consider myself a pretty even keeled person...I don't get real crabby very often. But yesterday I noticed that it didn't take much to set me off and I was making super sarcastic comments to whoever would listen and got so fed up with trying to find the correct tuppreware lid for a piece of tupperware that I had put leftovers in I finally just threw it in the trash...(I actually think the piece I picked is the ONE piece we had without a lid so it's actually not quite as bad as it sounds people) but it made me think of the day I went into labor with Hannah and my encounter with one of our skillets...I posted it on MySpace that day but it still gives me a chuckle to go back and read it, so here for those who are cranky or crazy or are just having one of those days is my skillet story:
I thought I would share with you all a little story from my morning. It's sure to please and at least make someone's day so I thought I'd go ahead and tell it even though it paints me in a rather umm... crazy light! I am tentatively calling it "Don't Make The Pregnant Woman Angry!" but am also leaning towards a more consumer friendly title of "Don't Poke The Bear! - Chronicles of a Pregnant Woman Scorned" I think that would grab people's interest a wee bit more. Ok here it goes:
So it's today...this morning. I have been working REALLY hard to eat mostly protein and drink enough water daily to fill a swimming pool! But my feet...well they actually seem to be getting worse-(the edema is not easing)...and more painful might I add. So I decide this morning "SCREW my low sodium whole grain toast and eggs with no salt! I am going to make myself some chocolate chip pancakes!" So I proceed to do so as I have so many times before...
We have about 3 skillets which when I'm just making some quick pancakes for myself I usually use! Works when you're just making 1-2 pancakes. So I pull out the smallest one which I've used countles times before and it's a great skillet! Adam's parents bought us this whole beautiful nice set of pots and pans from Costco when we got married and this cute little pan/skillet was one of those. SUPER perfect for cooking quick and small things. I just used it the other day to make eggs and/or pancakes...
So I turn on the burner and spray it down a little with pam as I usually do-mix up my batter and begin. I pour in my first pancake. It's lookin good! It's got the cute little bubbles that tell me it's starting to get brown on one side so I wait...suddenly it starts smoking! ANGRY smoke! WOAH THERE! So I try to flip the pancake over...he's toast. So I toss him in the trash. That's odd...I look at the heat... it's the same heat I normally have it on...ok so I'll turn it down a little. New batter...pancake 2...the minute it gets IN the pan it starts smoking and getting angry and now the pancake is sticking! What the-!? So I go to flip him over and the pan starts eating my spatula! And now pancake is sticking on everything (because of COURSE he wasn't ready) and there are pieces of spatula everywhere! Ok so I scrape the pancake out of the pan. Give the pan (and myself) some time to cool down. Two pancakes down. I clean off my spatula, grab a new one...clean out the pan. Here we go.
I again pull out the pancake batter...mix it all up (I am slowly depleting my chocolate chips as well might I add!!)
Mix it up...heats on med. low....okie dokie ....Pour in the batter. Ok things are looking good!!! It starts to bubble nicely...no angry smoke. So I give it a few as I normally do and go to flip it...you have GOT to be kidding me! The pancake breaks into 4 pieces many parts of it still sticking to the pan!!! The pan is kind of refusing to let go of the pancake even though I can see the underside is CLEARLY done and ready to be flipped. THAT'S IT! FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING GOOD AND HOLY! I'm done! You have now "POKED THE BEAR!!!!" Biiiig mistake. I try scraping the pancake out of the pan it is still not happening so I get mad. FINE! I don't care that you were once a beautiful skillet you have done me wrong. So in my irritated rage I threw it in the trash can! Ok - but I forgot in my irritated rage that I hadn't cooled the pan down so now the plastic liner in the garbage can is melting to the pan. HAHAHA...ooops! So I pull it out (the pancake is literally NOT coming out except in little crumbly pieces.) I stick it in water muttering and giving the pan what for because I mean this is clearly just RUDE. I cool it down and happily plunk it back in the garbage can. Could it have been salvaged?? Quite possibly but at this point I wasn't willing to hear it's apology or what it would do for me in the future. I was done.
Then I thought ok we'll just pull out that lovely griddle that Holly and Becca (or one of you) got me for our wedding. It's WONDERFUL! I just don't normally use it for only one pancake. But it does such a nice job! So I pull it out and mix up my batter and it makes me 3 very lovely and cute and golden bown chocolate chippy pancakes! Ahhhh. MUCH better! I think from now on I will use him for my pancakes. And don't worry-I know what you're thinking. Trust me-The only way that thing is going is if he grabs a knife and tries to attack me! But I had such lovely fluffy pancakes after 40 minutes of traumatic pancake ordeal...it was a nice change.
So the moral to my story is this. BEWARE. When you see a pregnant woman...most especially one in her 8th or 9th month who is already ready to snap and whose hormones are flying...choose and tread carefully. Because whether you are a random woman in the store dishing out pregnancy and child advice to me (when you don't even have a child to call your own and have never gone thru child birth!!!) or a skillet gone wrong you never know the reaction...or where you'll end up. And that's the truth.

Out and About

Before we moved to where we're at Adam and I lived closer to Portland. We lived smack in the middle of everything and although we liked the area we were in at the time and it worked for our jobs...everything was in walking distance and we were close to lots of things...neither of us has LOVED living in the city so much. What should have been a 10 minute drive to work ended up taking us 45 minutes to an hour or more! Then we moved out here!!

We LOVE where we're at! There are parks everywhere and walking trails and everything is easily accessible here. It seems like every time I go running/walking I find a new park or some new area that's just as gorgeous! And I'm super excited because where before living up towards Portland meant we were close to a lot of restaraunts and other things - here it gives us a chance to get out and be active even more so. (when the weather cooperates!) And I'm really excited because Hannah loves being out doors! Whenever I put her in the stroller she either quietly looks around at everything or ends up falling asleep even if she's just woken up! So it's been fun to take her running and go on walks with her! Yesterday we went for a walk and ended up at a park where I took some pictures of her. These are some of those pictures.

She is SO much fun!! She is SUPER mobile now...in the last week she's really taken OFF on crawling and is pulling herself up on everything in sight! She's found the curtains and found that the blinds make a fun noise if you pull them back and let them go...she's found the door stops that boing and thinks they're hilarious! It looks like I started baby proofing not a minute too soon! I put the stair gate up about a week ago and it's as if she was waiting for that to get started really moving! Now she's found the plug ins and wires...and our full length mirror! It's so funny because it's like one day she was only scooting around and the next something clicked and she crawled like the wind and is into EVERYTHING! I love it though! It keeps her busy! Definitely though we'll have to keep an eye on her...she's one that if it's quiet for very long you'd best be figuring out where she is and what she's up to! She only gets more fun! And we love her...

Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day! I can not believe that this year I am blessed with being able to celebrate this day! It is so crazy to think that at this time last year I was pregnant with Hannah and we didn't know yet if she was a boy or girl! All I knew was that I loved her and I was excited to meet her! I have always wanted to be a mom and have kids a part of my life...and I am absolutely in love with it. Even if we couldn't have anymore having Hannah and watching her every day makes it so worth it. Even when I'm so tired I can't stand up straight I look forward to her waking up so I can go snuggle on her or see her smile that she gives me every day! Even if it's 2 a.m. and I need the sleep the feeling of seeing her and being with her always wins out. She is an amazing little girl and the fact that she makes me a momma is incredible. Every day she gives me something new to smile about or gives me a new reason to be a stronger and better person tat I was before. If for no other reason than for her. I am so in love with this little girl and So in love with being her momma!!

Ahhh Spring!

It's funny how when you have a baby/kid being cooped up and cabin fever take on a whole new meanings. Winter in Oregon is not real great and then you get all excited for spring and it does funky things like snow and hail one day or blow you sideways with gusts of fantastic wind the next. And just when you think you can't take anymore you get a few nice days to give you a break. Today it was supposed to rain, but it didn't!!

Yay! Hannah and I both woke up sick today. We both have the coughs and sniffles and sneezies. Despite that we both had tons of energy and she was in a GREAT and fun mood all day! It was so nice outside this afternoon that I plopped her in the umbrealla stroller and went on a jaunt around the neighborhood with her to look at all the flowers and pretty trees etc...This flower is from one of the neighbors blooming trees. I was surprised she left it there and didn't bother it!
But she seemed to love having it there and became all smiles when I brought out the camera. Luckily you can't tell too badly that she has a seriously runny nose in this picture, major drool and squished veggies all over her shirt and pants. All that matters is her cute little face. Yay for warm spring days!

I'll Do It Myself Thank You
These are from the other day when Hannah decided to take the bowl and spoon into her own hands...this is the result of her feeding herself (and this isn't as bad as it got!) She really would rather do it herself! :) Not quite there yet!

Hannah will be 7 months old on Saturday! I absolutely cannot believe it! She's becoming her own little person but really wants to be where ever you are. She loves being outside and going for walks. She has recently decided she LOVES strawberries and mashed potatoes with cheese and most especially yogurt! She has a great sense of humor and already laughs at things that aren't obviously funny! Her laugh is the best! She still isn't crawling but it seems to be because she is trying too hard to get on her feet! She wants to walk more than crawl and will get into crawl position and walk her self hp to her feet. She officially has her first little tooth and if you're not paying attention will scoot over and bite down on your toes! She gets a daily kick out of Barry and anything he does and will break into massive grins if she hears you sing to her! Recently she's decided she wants to be a part of worship practice and will grab the mike and move her mouth as if she's singing...
She is a blast to be around and is one BUSY girl and will only continue to get even busier and more active. Which I'm looking forward to! Maybe we can officailly lose those last few baby pounds! (Me that is!!)

The many faces of Hannah...
"Mama-Mama"

Hannah will say "Hi" - usually not in context and usually whispered - now and she's started uttering lots of syllables. But my favorite right now has to be what she calls me. It's usually when she's upset or wants to be near you (or at two in the morning when I'm trying not to pick her up) she calls me "mama-mama." Melts my heart! She'll say it every now and then when she wakes up too. But most often she'll get kind of fussy and then if she knows I'm in the room but not picking her up she gets goin on "mama-mama" a few times in a row. Makes it very hard to not snuggle her at 2 in the morning when she should be sleeping on her own! :)
