Family Pictures

We had a bunch of family pictures taken in January of this year when Shane, Maren and Piper came to visit. Family friends Ryan Flood (Ryan Flood Photography) and Joelle took the pictures for us! Out of the whole week it ended up being one of the nicer days but it was SO windy!! Hannah was only 3 mos old and was getting SO cold! But the pictures turned out great of course they are both SO talented. We recently got the proofs for all the pictures so here are some of my favorites:

The Time Has Come...

So my plan before Hannah was even born was to nurse unless by some unforseen thing I could not. I don't judge one way or the other I think we as women should do what works best for each of us individually and our lives. But my plan was to try my hardest to nurse her up to a year when then it would be ok for her to have regular milk. In the last few weeks it's become obvious that I am not going to be able to personally nurse her anymore because she's such a busy girl that as hungry as she is she gets too distracted by things around her and wants to be able to look around and moves and kicks and bites and all kinds of things...which you clearly are not able to do when your face is smushed into a boob! So I've only been nursing her at night and in the early morning and the rest of the time have been pumping and giving her a bottle...mostly because she's shown complete disgust for formula. But I think even pumping is going to have to come to an end soon because my body knows that it's not a baby and is not kicking out as much as before. I know I shouldn't but I feel horribly guilty about this...I feel guilty for giving her formula when I've tried so hard for 6 1/2 months to nurse....and I feel guilty that in some ways I'm relieved because maybe now I can work on getting my voice back and get rid of this acid reflux that's been tearing up my throat since last September...because I haven't been able to take some medications while nursing her. So I'll go as long as I can but I'm feeling kind of guilty about giving her powder and water...even though I shouldn't! ...

Thank You....Whoever you are!

On Sunday after church we decided it had been QUITE awhile since we'd been out to eat so the three of us stopped at a Mexican restaraunt to eat lunch. It was pretty nice out so the three of us sat outside and chatted and Hannah behaved wonderfully! We had our food and sat around for quite awhile waiting for the check to come...our waiter came and went but never handed us a check. Finally Adam went inside to see what was going on and why we hadn't received a check yet and the cashier told him that some older couple had paid for our entire meal! He thought they were joking!! We were sitting outside and could see everyone coming and going and never saw anyone we knew...it could have been but it sounds like it wasn't anyone we knew at all by description!
So I don't know who it was...but THANK YOU! That made our day! I've heard of that happening but it's never happened to us. It kind of warmed my heart to know that even though I'm aware that there are obviously good people out there...that over all there is still basic kindness and thoughtfulness that exists. And that makes having a kid in this world that much sweeter sometimes compared to all the other nasty stuff that's out there. So again THANK YOU! It was much appreciated and made our day!

Water Baby!

Since day one Hannah has been a little water baby. It was the one thing in the hospital amidst all the poking and prodding and constant machines and temperature checks etc...that relaxed her. From the day we brought her home and started giving her baths she has never once cried while getting into or during a bath...only when it's come time to get out. She absolutely LOVES water! In the bathtub she'll turn her face so it's underwater (freaks me out!) or water will go pouring down her face and she only blinks a couple extra times and then break out with a big smile on her face! Today was a GORGEOUS and warm April day it felt more like summer! So we went on a nice walk and then once we got home I blew up the little baby pool, stripped her of her clothes and stuck her in! I didn't even bother with the swimsuit. So here are some of those pictures from today with her in the pool lovin it!

Barry had to make sure that the pool was ok...he was worried.

She's definitely got mommas thighs...poor thing! :)

Baby Legs!!

These things are the best! They come in millions of different colors/patterns and are SO handy! I put these on her instead of tights when she was real small because they're warmer and easier to get on and off and they stay on better than tights and now that she's more active and starting to crawl and roll everywhere I just plop these and a onsie or nothing else on her during the day! We found out about these from Auntie Maren - she bought us a couple pairs to start and now we're addicted. I love em! And since she loves bein naked I can put these on her and let her go so her knees don't get rug burn-cause she is a BUSY girl! So thank you Aunty Maren for introducing us to these! We LOVE You!! :)

6 months and counting!

She is getting so big so fast!! She's still a lil peanut and it's so fun to watch her figure stuff out every day and do or say something new. She's a talker! She loves to hear herself jabber and if she gets really mad she shouts at you or shrieks at the top of her lungs....ya she's got a mind of her own this one. I cannot get enough of her! She loves bein outside and watching all the kids on the playground play! (She's still a little too teeny to sit in the baby swings!) And her laugh!! It's infectious. These are some of my more favorite pictures we've taken recently.
