Compliments
Hannah is really excellent at giving compliments. Many times they are about how handsome daddy is or how beautiful she thinks Abby or myself are or how she thinks I am the best mom ever or how daddy is the best daddy ever, better than all the other daddys! (This is usually after I've said yes to something or daddy has agreed to play MarioKart with her.) But sometimes the compliments are down right hilarious. Still kind and thoughtful but really, honestly random. For instance this morning I was given a "Wow Mom. You're like the best banana cutter EVER!" All righty then. Or later in the day, "Mom. I just can't stand how beautiful you are. It's like you are a beautiful, tall sunflower waving in the sunny breeze next to rainbow colored tulips all smelling sweetly just like you." haha Trust me when I say this happens many times a day. But I'll take it. Hopefully she will always sees me as a beautiful sunflower, and not the wicked, thorny blackberry bramble that just told her she couldn't go out with her friends for the evening.
Differences.
It's really fun to watch the different personalities grow in each of the girls. For instance, if Hannah were to pick out new clothes for herself she'd want to make sure it was pink. All pink. Any shade. Just pink. On the other hand all Abby cares about is whether or not the item has pockets. If there's no place to shove her tiny hands she becomes disgruntled.
Abby's more drawn to greens and oranges and blues, unless of course she hears Hannah shouting about pink, in which case she decides since she's getting so excited about it she may as well too.
Hannah is funny with words. First of all the fact that she knows and uses so many large words correctly...and sometimes incorrectly is really hilarious. On the other hand, while Abby of course says some mightly adorable and chuckle worthy things, her facial expressions alone will slay you! I don't know where she gets them, but they are hands down the most hilarious thing I've seen on a kid.
Hannah likes to cry...Abby likes to pretend to cry.
Hannah's more of the plain cereal and yogurt or chocolate chip pancake kind of girl. Abby will eat anything you put in front of her, her favorite being eggs and hashbrowns and sausages and bacon. (To be fair we ALL really love bacon in this family. It's a sickness.)
Abby watches and sees Hannah doing things and slowly and sneakily learns them til WALLAH! She's doing it too. This sometimes irritates Hannah, who for example, still can't really get floating on her back down. What she doesn't realize is SHE'S the one who coached Abby how to float correctly based on her own swimming lessons. It seems Hannah just might be the one to potty train Abby as well...
Hannah is quiet and thoughtful about situations, she asks questions but only after she's sat and thought about what she could ask. Abby flies around bouncing off of things, excitedly shouting at you and asking questions until the moment finally happens and she can at last calm down. (i.e. Grandparents visiting)
And the best part is that without each other they aren't the same. They love each other so much and rely on each other for so many things throughout the day...what a marvelous friendship they have going on. I love these girls. :)
